An inspiring and interesting antique hand carved russet hued Carnelian intaglio signet ring showing a heraldic styled image of a raggedy looking Lion's head. Traditionally symbolising strength, bravery and loyalty, this petite intaglio ring could be a wonderfully meaningful amulet. In rich and softly patinated 18ct Yellow Gold, the ring size is a 'K/5.25/10/50' but there is some room for adjustment by a few sizes.
According to Fairbairn's Book of Crests, this particular lion was the heraldic emblem of a number of British families, including: Bates, Cole, Knott, Long, MacKnight, Murdoch, Nicholson, Powell, Scott, and Steele.
